Café Barock at Universum: Pietari Brahe and his lute
Governor-General Pietari Brahe (1602 - 1680) moved the centre of Helsinki to its current location and played a significant role in founding the first university in Finland, the Turku Academy. Less well known is that he played the lute. Brahe even wrote down with his own hands a collection of lute compositions of his contemporaries.
Luteist Mikko Ikäheimo has studied the collection and recorded a disc from it. In the concert at Café Barock, Ikäheimo plays music from Brahe's collection and tells more about this music and Brahe's life.
