Carmina Burana
Three student choirs, Wiipurilaisen Osakunnan Laulajat, Pohjalaisten Osakuntien Laulajat and Savolaisen Osakunnan Laulajat join their forces
Three student choirs, Wiipurilaisen Osakunnan Laulajat, Pohjalaisten Osakuntien Laulajat and Savolaisen Osakunnan Laulajat join their forces with Helsinki Symphonic Winds this April to perform Carl Orff's beloved classic Carmina Burana in Temppeliaukio Church.
The piece is based on profane medieval songs about the joys of drinking, gambling and eating, and premiered in 1937. The piece combines secular and mystical themes, shattering rhythms and catchy melodies portrayed by the choir, orchestra and soloists.
The concert is conducted by Henriikka Teerikangas.
Soloists: baritone Sampo Haapaniemi, soprano Marika Hölttä, tenor Aki Alamikkotervo.
Children's choir: Helsingin konservatorion nuoret laulajat.
