The name of the performance comes from the first letter of the words ‘body’, ‘bone’, ‘being’ and ‘bee’. At the centre of everything is an impossible textile body (too large, too fragile, too heavy, too porous) installed in the exhibition space and inhabited by the performers’ voices in the form of nearly imperceptible sound and three living performances. The group of performers consists of two singers, a visual artist and a child playing a horn. The horn-playing child leads the audience to the textile body and begins a dialogue with it. The three voices offer three perspectives on the body’s experience in a moment in which the observer’s understanding of the world gets flipped. The outlines of the body grow softer and the world starts to leak in. In a state of confusion, the observer holds on to language and attempts to make themselves whole again with words.
The work is part of the Come Back as a Flower exhibition running at HAM.
