South African cellist-composer Abel Selaocoe flits with ease from one genre and style to another, spicing his music with improvisation, singing and beat boxing. 

In his compositions and concert programmes he tries to focus on the relations between Western and non-Western traditions and to widen the classical-music horizon to bring in new audiences. His eagerly-awaited Four Spirits cello concerto is already sweeping the world.
