Neumeier, one of the most legendary choreographers of all time, began creating Ghost Light for the Hamburg Ballet as soon as the pandemic restrictions allowed in Spring 2020, not knowing whether it could ever be publicly performed. The work was an exercise in creativity out of necessity for the choreographer and his dancers.

Ghost Light premiered in September 2020, and it has been recorded at Hamburg’s Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. The soloists include Atte Kilpinen from the Finnish National Ballet. Music by Franz Schubert.

Ghost Light is available on the Finnish National Opera and Ballet’s virtual stage Stage24 in cooperation with the art and culture channel Arte.

The recording is available on Stage24 until 23 Feb 2021.
