Hyena is the pariah of the animal world. It has been said to be unnatural and an affront to God’s creation, because it is neither feline nor canine but both. Like the hyena, non-binary gender identity is thought to be strange and even frightening as it refuses to conform to binary norms.

Hyeena is a touching, funny and lustful performance about the collision of the binary and non-binary world; about otherness and unruly and fluid gender identity and sexuality that refuses to comply with norms.

Hyeena is performance artist Vili von Nissinen’s first long-form solo piece.
