Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Bobby Oroza
The music that the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble plays consists of jazz, funk, hip-hop and rock with a huge dose of party vibes
Chicago-based Hypnotic Brass Ensemble’s latest album The Bad Boys of Jazz, is a description that rings somewhat true. The band consists of trumpeter Phil Cochran’s seven sons, who grew up amongst jazz music. On the good-bad axis, they sit somewhere in the range of excellence.
The seven brothers have all played a wind instrument since they were children. The music that the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble plays consists of jazz, funk, hip-hop and rock with a huge dose of party vibes, which acts such as Erykah Badu and RZA have looked to for their gigs and songs.
If the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are the bad boys of jazz, opener Bobby Oroza is the golden boy of vintage soul. A son of a tango singer and jazz musician, he adds a sensual touch to elegant Latin soul.
