Kati Tuominen-Niittylä: Emotion

Ceramics by Kati Tuominen-Niittylä is on display at Galleria Duetto in the autumn.

"I'm working in the field between art, design and handcraft.

My works are hand-build with coiling method, burnt in the temperature of 1080-1250°C. The result depends on how I use different clays, engobes, glazes and surface structures. Feeling and character od of my works grow from different natural phenomenon and architectural settings which I think my works could fit in.

I like slow motion.

Some of the works have moved on the walls.

When something is taken away, something else comes along."

Kati Tuominen-Niittylä works in Helsinki, in the property Arabia 135, full of history. Tuominen-Niittylä has worked at Arabia Art Department since 1980 and is founding member of Arabia Art Department Society, whisch has it's 20th birthday next year.
