In autumn 2022, the theme of the Kino Kuutamo screenings is films based on books. The first to be seen is the screen adaptation of Pirkko Saisio's novel Betoniyö (Concrete Night, Kirjayhtymä, 1981).

The main character is the teenaged Simo, whose mother pushes him to take care of his older brother, who is about to go to prison, for the last night of summer. The young man looks in the mirror, his vision blurring behind the water steam. Simo’s (Johannes Brotherus) face captures the audience from the very first dreamlike images. What does Simo, himself, see in the mirror as that fateful night advances to its destructive end?

The film history expert Harri Kilpi PhD will provide an introduction to the film at 5 p.m.–5:45 p.m. After the lecture, the free screening of the film begins at 6 p.m.
