Laura (Seidi Haarla), who is running away from her broken heart on a journey from Moscow to Murmansk, shares a train compartment with a gruff miner Ljoha (Yuri Borisov). Laura’s expectations of a tranquil trip involving reflection are shattered when Ljoha gets drunk and very loud on the very first night.

Film historian Harri Kilpi, PhD, will provide an introduction to the film at 5 p.m.–5:45 p.m. After the lecture, the free screening of the film begins at 6 p.m. In the autumn, the theme of Kino Kuutamo’s screenings is films based on books. The night’s film is based on Rosa Liksom’s Finlandia-awarded novel Compartment Number 6 (WSOY, 2011).
