With four Emma Awards under his belt, singer-songwriter Knipi will turn 50 next April and celebrate his birthday with a special gig at the Savoy Theatre in Helsinki.
Knipi has made numerous gold and platinum records and has left a strong impression on Finnish pop music since the early 1990s. He is known as a founding member of Egotrippi and an award-winning composer who has created hits for artists like Jonna Tervomaa, Anna Puu and Irina. In recent years, he has become known above all as a solo artist. Knipi’s acclaimed solo debut was released in autumn 2019, and he is currently working on his second solo album, set for release in spring 2022.
The birthday concert will be a kind of milestone, a point where the artist can stop and look at the significant moments of his career so far, but also rejoice in what will be coming next. Located in the heart of Helsinki, right next to Esplanade Park, the Savoy Theatre and its Art Deco-style facilities offer the best possible setting for an extra-long set that also includes an intermission.
Knipi is also active on the new music front, having just released his new single “Tien varteen”. The song represents the artist at his best: his delicate and beautiful melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and touching voice make the listener stop in the moment. Knipi’s collaboration with Jukka Immonen, who produced the solo debut, also continues on the new releases.
Age limit: all ages.
Duration approx. 2 h with intermission.
