La Traviata virtually
This romantic story of young love overshadowed by illness is the most popular Verdi opera ever performed at the FNOB.

Alfredo’s family does not approve of him consorting with a woman of bad reputation, and Violetta is obliged to forsake her love. Finally the young lovers are reunited, but by then death is already claiming Violetta.
The current production has been in the repertoire since 1988, with almost 200 performances. And there is no end in sight, thanks in part to the shining white 19th-century style set but above all to the immortal music of Verdi. La Traviata is a cornucopia of compelling melodies and elegant orchestration that underpin both the wistfulness of farewell and raucous parties in Paris.
