Mätä-Film invites young filmmakers to
participate in a short film competition.

Held for the first time, the Mätä-Film
short film competition for young people is a part of the Mätä-Fest event
during the autumn holiday. The competition’s idea and concept come from young
people who wanted to see more of short films made by young people. The short
films should use the theme ‘rotten to the core,’ which you can adapt freely.
Mätä-Film encourages you to try new things and let loose!

The competition finals will be held at
Tiivistämö on 21 October 2021. At the event, we will present all nine
semi-finalist films, and announce the winner. In addition to this, we will hold
a panel discussion on the finalist short films and film-making in
general. You can watch the final either on-site or via a livestream
on Helsinki-kanava. (helsinkikanava.fi).
The short films selected for the semi-final will also be available for viewing
on Helsinki-kanava after the event.

The creators of the winning film will have a
chance to attend a one-day training event where they will visit film industry
professionals at the Finnish Broadcasting Company and learn important skills
from them.

City of Helsinki Youth Services and the
Mätä-Fest working group, in cooperation with the Finnish Broadcasting Company,
are in charge of the production of the Mätä-Film event.
