Kukkanen play Finnish-language folk-style music that features stories of urban life and human fates. The band collaborate on the arrangements of songs written by Juha Kareinen, while everything ancillary is taken care of with a pure garage mentality.

The band consists of Juha Kareinen (resonator guitar and harmonica), Ari Lehtinen (double bass) and Katja Lamberg (violin and wind instruments).
