Somnium Ensemble's Christmas Concert

In Somnium Ensemble’s atmospheric Christmas concert, you’ll hear traditional carols along with works that delve into the message of Christmas, spanning various centuries. 

The program’s theme follows the guiding light of the morning star, illuminating the path toward Christmas and the journey it symbolizes toward peace.

The concert includes works by Finnish composers, featuring classics by Jean Sibelius, Leevi Madetoja, Ahti Sonninen, and Toivo Kuula. In addition, music by Nana Forte, Alfred Schnittke, and Arvo Pärt will be performed.

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Somnium’s Christmas concert will be held at the Old Church of Helsinki. Under the sky-blue ceiling of this wooden Empire-style architectural gem, a wealth of Finnish cultural and musical history has been experienced.
