British glam rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, which rose to global fame in the 1970s, will perform in Finland in October. Having visited Finland for the first time over 45 years ago, the band will be seen in Helsinki at the Savoy Theatre on Wednesday, 19 October 2022.
The music of Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel covers a wide range of styles from pop to progressive rock. Harley founded his band in 1972, and the following year their debut single, Sebastian, made it to the charts in many European countries.
The band also became popular in Finland, and they were seen at the Finlandia Hall in May 1975. The single “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)” was number one on the British charts at the beginning of the same year and has since sold 1.5 million copies.
The band split up in 1977, after which Harley made a few solo albums and participated in projects with other artists. The Cockney Rebel made a comeback in the late 1990s and has become even more active in the 21st century.
In 2010, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel toured the British Isles. The band will now visit Finland for another performance.
