Superpluck club 2023
What does music sound and feel like in the body?
What does music sound and feel like in the body? How does the visual aspect of playing or notation affect my experience of music? Do I perceive music or my instrument differently with my eyes open and closed? You are warmly welcome to ponder these themes with us at Musica nova’s Superpluck club on 6 March 2023.
The Superpluck club offers encounters and discussion related to modern Finnish, Japanese and Spanish music as well as the multisensory aspect that is central to experiencing music – listening and playing. The intertwining of the senses, corporeality and emotions is an integral part of expression in contemporary music.
The Superpluck trio consists of Eija Kankaanranta, kantele, Rody van Gemert, guitar, and Assi Karttunen, harpsichord. Musica nova’s Artistic Director Tuuli Lindeberg leads the discussion. The event will feature several premieres, and club guests include composers Juha T. Koskinen and Mioko Yokoyama as well as clarinettist Reetta Näätänen, an expert on Japanese culture. The duration of the club is about 1.5 hours.
