The Many Faces of Aging
The photo exhibition presents twenty older persons and their life stories.
The photo exhibition presents twenty older persons and their life stories. These people have ended up in Finland in many personal ways.
People live in a reality, where they rarely have clear and same kind of opinions about the manners, values and religions as the people surrounding them. The identities are changing along the life. The identity of aging consists of many layers as life lived, memories, this moment, and the future.
The older people, who have moved to Finland for many reasons and in different ages, are not a homogenous group. They often are invisible and left outside of the activities in the Finnish society, even though they would have a lot of life experience, know-how and energy. One target of the exhibition is to enhance the visibility of the older people who have moved to Finland from other countries.
The photo exhibition is carried out together by artist Satu Juvonen and six organizations operating in the field of multicultural elderly work.
