The Splitting and the Space Between
The splitting and the space between features artists who have been part of the Ukraine Solidarity Residencies programme
The splitting and the space between features artists who have been part of the Ukraine Solidarity Residencies programme: Alina Khorolska, Anastasiia Sviridenko, Jenia Advokat+Commercial Public Art, Katya Lesiv, MKUV studio (Maria Kulikovska and Uleg Vinnichenko), Maria Leonova, Nataliia Deneika, Nataliya Ilchuk, Oksana Mykhanko, Olga Zaremba, Olexandr Charkin, Oleksandra Viazinko, Vlada Kupriyanova, Yulia Charkina, Yaroslav Minkin and Yulia Lyubych.
Referring to all moments of life that create change, The splitting and the space between encapsulates the notion that change is multi-sided and process based, the space in between houses a lot of people, who are on their way somewhere, figuring out the next steps.
The exhibition spans painting to sound work, reaching into artists' lives at a poignant moment, a time of great change and great heartbreak, where one action, started on February 24th, pulsates through their existence. A moment that is not at the heart of this exhibition but nevertheless needs to be noted because work produced after this moment, as well as before, cannot be but (re)examined through the lense of war.
