Timo Lassy Trio with Symphony Orchestra
Bigger isn’t always better – just sometimes.
Bigger isn’t always better – just sometimes. When saxophonist Timo Lassy invited a 25-strong string orchestra to join him on his album Trio, released last year, the outcome was a “masterpiece” (Der Spiegel), an “epic trio album” (DownBeat) that Helsingin Sanomat gave a full five stars.
On the Huvila stage, Lassy’s orchestral sounds will be even bigger. The line-up will consist of Lassy, double bassist Ville Herrala and drummer Jaska Lukkarinen, who’ll be accompanied by the Vantaa Orchestra conducted by Eero Lehtimäki. The concert will feature music from the album Trio as well as arrangements from Lassy’s earlier works.
The concert will be Lassy’s first with a full orchestra. “Expectations are high as I get to try out this new experience,” says Lassy. The audience is bound to feel the same.
