The orchestra concert Difference Engine consists of four orchestra compositions by Uljas Pulkkis, of which the concert title piece will get its premiere.

The orchestra concert Difference Engine consists of four orchestra compositions by Uljas Pulkkis, of which the concert title piece will get its premiere. The concert will also feature two brilliant piano soloists: Risto-Matti Marin as the soloist of the piano concerto and Joel Papinoja as the soloist of Pulkkis' breakthrough work The Tears of Ludovico. In addition, Pulkkis' composition Encanto will be heard at the concert. Uuden Ajan Ensemble is conducted by Tapio von Boehm.

 

The concert is part of Uljas Pulkkis -composer festival in Helsinki. The festival offers a good overview of Pulkkis' production, from the spectrum music of the beginning of his career to the later neo-romanticism. Eight of Pulkkis' orchestral or ensemble compositions will be performed at the festival's concerts.
