Uljas Pulkkis Composer Festival: Dragonfly

The chamber orchestra concert “Dragonfly” consists of four chamber orchestra compositions by Uljas Pulkkis: Victoria, Dragonfly, Shades of Night Descending (first performance of the chamber orchestra version) and Lagragian Point. As a soloist, the Ensemble will have the young top cellist Tatu Kauppinen, who just won the cello competition in Turku. The conductor of Uuden Ajan Ensemble is Tapio von Boehm.

The concert is part of Uljas Pulkkis Composer Festival in Helsinki. The festival offers a good overview of Pulkkis' production, from the spectrum music of the beginning of his career to the later neo-romanticism. Eight of Pulkkis' orchestral or ensemble compositions will be performed at the festival's concerts.
