The exhibition observes how traditional hand crafts, like cross-stich, can be used as a form of societal communication and occupying space.

The exhibition observes how traditional hand crafts, like cross-stich, can be used as a form of societal communication and occupying space.

The exhibition is comprised of the works of multiple artists. Additionally, it features cross-stich works created in the meetings of the Radikaalit Ristipistot Helsinki (Radical Cross-Stitches Helsinki) collective. Radikaalit Ristipistot is a part of the craftivism movement. Their radicality comes from the wish to highlight hand crafts as an art form, to present their diversity and emphasise their potential to take stand. At the same time, the movement aims to show that feminist activism can take many forms and those forms can also be soft.

Welcome to the world of combustive cross-stitches!
