The Sounds – Armas Festival

Finnish pop and rautalanka band The Sounds are still playing, this time at Vuotalo!

The Sounds was formed in the autumn of 1961. Their first single, Emma, sold more than 20,000 copies and became the best-selling single in Finland. The B-side song, Mandschurian Beat, sold over a million copies in the Far East and was the first export success for Finnish popular music.

The current line-up of the band is as follows:

Peter Ekman – bass guitar (founding member)
Esa Helasvuo – keyboards (since 1964)
Jorma Kettunen – drums (since 2014)
Ave Lönnfors – rhythm guitar and vocals (since 2019)
Jan-Erik Saine – lead guitar (since 2019)
