Earth, Water, Air and Fire – a concert featuring orchestral suites and concertos by the most famous masters of the Baroque period.
The air is represented by Bach’s beloved orchestral suite No. 2 in B minor, in which the flute takes on a solo role. It includes the well-known Badinerie and local colour of the polonaise.
Vivaldi’s Bassoon Concerto in G major brings to the surface of the earth. The noble, dark and supple bassoon shows many of its sides in the work.
Telemann’s colourful music depicts both calm and storm, and presents the water gods of both Greek and Roman mythology.
Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major, which represents fire is virtuosity, and a sense of well-being.
