Kasarmikatu 46-48, 00130 Helsinki

A tour featuring Paula Koivuniemi’s songs across Finland this spring!

Paula Koivuniemi’s first recording, Perhonen, will be 60 years old this year. To mark the occasion, a five-concert celebratory tour focusing on her songs will take place this spring, entitled Kiittäen ja kunnioittaen (‘With Thanks and Respect’) – Paula Koivuniemi.

The tour will start in Seinäjoki on 18 April and end in Helsinki on 20 May. The other cities of the tour are Turku, Lahti and Espoo. The show at the Savoy Theatre in Helsinki will feature Koivuniemi’s best-known hits and less frequently heard songs performed by Saija Tuupanen, Eija Kantola, Anneli Mattila, Jenna Bågeberg and Pirita Niemimaa. The artists will be accompanied by the orchestra of Paula’s son, Toni Lehti.

“Paula Koivuniemi has had a remarkable career, and her songs are an integral part of Finnish popular music history. There is not a night without Aikuinen nainen being sung in karaoke somewhere in Finland, nor a day without one of her songs playing on a radio station. Now that 60 years have passed since her first single, it’s a good time to celebrate this fantastic singer,” comments tour organiser Joona Jalkanen.

Born in Seinäjoki in June 1947, Paula Koivuniemi has achieved 13 gold records, one platinum record and one double platinum over the course of her career. She has sung her way into the hearts of Finns with numerous hits, such as Aikaan sinikellojen, Romantiikkaa, Sua vasten aina painautuisin, Tummat silmät, ruskea tukka, Aikuinen nainen, Kun kuuntelen Tomppaa and Kuka pelkää Paulaa.
