Why specifically rats? – Wednesday Club

The long history of coexistence between rats and humans is no coincidence, but rather a consequence of the ability of the species to colonise areas that we have modified.

When we view the rat as a city dweller, we simultaneously perceive the city as its habitat.

In this lecture, we take a closer look at the rat’s success both around the world and in modern-day Helsinki. We hear about research findings on how rats move about in urban environments and why their numbers vary from one area to another. What do the habits of this resourceful neighbour tell us about ourselves?
