For autumn 2026 the renowned University of Helsinki Art Room has relocated temporarily to Helsinki University Museum Flame’s exhibition centre.
Visitors are welcome to come and discover more about academic art teaching, whose roots at the Royal Academy of Turku in Finland stretch back to the 18th century.
The exhibition brings together a selection from the Art Room’s plaster cast collection alongside fascinating examples of work by artists who trained there.
On display are works ranging from what has been called the Golden Age of Finnish art through to the present day, including pieces by the Art Room’s current teacher, drawing master Vappu Rossi.
Visitors also have the chance to try drawing for themselves. Sketching the plaster casts is included in the price of Museum admission. Feel free to bring your own drawing materials or borrow some on site.
