Modern pop-kantele player Ida Elina has made the kantele known as an instrument both in Finland and around the world for 10 years already, and to celebrate this journey the singer–songwriter will release a new album – Capital Letters – and go on a 10th anniversary tour in autumn 2022.

A book on Ida Elina was published in the spring of 2022, describing the new rise of kantele in the 21st century. The book focuses on the story of this modern pop-kantele player and how the phenomenon Ida Elina was born. The book dives into years of despair and bitterness, the discovery of her own identity, her fragile dream, the year that changed her life and tells how this woman who grew up in a small town in North Ostrobothnia finally became an artist that tours the world.

This pop-kantele diva has received the Evento Awards Performer of the Year award, the Kantele of the Year award, the radio stations’ Christmas Album of the Year award and she is the winner in the professional series of the 1st International Kantele Competition. As her most recent acknowledgement, she won the TOYP Finland – Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2021 public vote.

During her ten-year career, Ida Elina has performed for the Finnish presidential couple Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukio, President Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajärvi, President Martti Ahtisaari as well as for business leaders, political influencers and diplomats in several countries.
Over the years, she has performed abroad, for example, in honour of Finland 100 Independence Anniversary in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and at the Beijing Arts 2020 Festival, Shanghai International Indie Music Season 2020 and Music by Design Shanghai events. In addition, the singer has made concert tours in the United States, Germany and Japan, and she has performed frequently in the Nordic and Baltic countries. In addition to her numerous TV appearances, Ida Elina has become familiar to the Finnish audience especially from the television broadcasts of the Independence Day Reception and its afterparty.
