Mira Roivainen: One Day You'll Notice That The Light Has Changed

Mira Roivainen: One Day You'll Notice That The Light Has Changed

The works in the exhibition handles the moment of change through expressive acrylic painting and poetic metaphors. The works intertwine both the level of personal change of human and the more social level, where references to the relationship between human and nature, ecological values and climate change can be found. Natural objects, such as water or trees, work as metaphors for human action, feelings or thoughts.

For Roivainen's art, painting is the basis of everything. The artist’s approach is experimental: she is interested in materials and uses different kinds of tools when she paints from an old K-Plussa card to a cleaning mop. Roivainen utilizes recycling in her works and has painted some of the works in the exhibition on a swimming mattress, for example.

Mira Roivainen (b. 1990, Espoo), who lives and works in Kokkola, graduated as a visual artist from the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2017. Since 2010, Roivainen has held exhibitions and participated in joint exhibitions in Finland and abroad. Roivainen's works have been seen in the Young Artists 2019-exhibition at Kunsthalle Helsinki. Roivainen is a member of the Finnish Painters 'Union and board member of the Ostrobothnian Artists' Union.
