Documentary series bringing women’s stories to the fore.

Women that do not concede to convention often find themselves pushed to the margins of society due to patriarchy, racism, ableism and heteronormativity. March Through The Frame is a four-week programme of documentaries that bears witness to their stories and centres these women as narrators in their own right.

Whether lesbians in the UK rebelling through punk protest, a performance artist’s fierce critique of Japanese conservative culture, outspoken women shaping the Jamaican Rastafari movement or an Argentinian filmmaker’s powerful exploration of hearing loss, each story is a testament to the feminist statement that the personal is political.

The majority of these documentaries have never been shown before in Finland. All films include english subtitles.
The programme is curated by Adalmiina Erkkola, a cultural producer interested in the political potential of film. They also host the No Man’s Land radio show at IDA Helsinki.
