Art is more: Inspired By Trees: Movement Art Family Workshop For 7-9 Year Olds – 7-9-year-olds with adult
Jun 22, 2026 | 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Annankatu 30, 00100 Helsinki
What if you could stretch like branches, sway with the wind, and discover the stories of tree roots? In this playful expressive arts workshop, children and adults explore tree forms through movement, outdoor discovery, and creative reflection, connecting body, mind, and nature together. Step into the secret life of trees with Art Is More!
This family workshop invites families to explore how trees grow, adapt, and connect, using the body as your primary tool. Inspired by the book “How to Read a Tree” by Tristan Gooley, we become steady trunks, reaching branches, and whispering leaves, discovering how movement, storytelling, and visual art nurture children’s confidence and body awareness while deepening family connection through shared experience.
We begin indoors at Annantalo with energising warm-ups and short discussions, then head to Vanha kirkkopuisto to observe and experience trees up close. Through guided movement exploration and creative reflection, families engage at their own pace in a supportive environment. At Art Is More, we value process over perfection; art materials will be used to trace moments from the journey. You’ll leave refreshed and connected, and you may never see trees (or each other) quite the same way again.
The language of instruction is mainly English, please indicate in the registration if you need support in Finnish. The workshop is led by Daniela Pascual (artist, MA in Live Art and Performance Studies) and Wena Ho (educator, MA in Education). Workshop fee: €10 per participant (child/adult).
