Aurea Tanttu: Öljyvärimaalauskurssi englanniksi – Oil Painting in English – 13–16-year-olds, born 2010-2013

Discover the joy of oil painting and drawing in a course taught in English by Aurea Tanttu. Over 13 lessons, you will be introduced to a wide range of painting techniques and ways of developing your creative voice.

During the course, we will explore both the technical and experimental aspects of painting. On October 9th, we will go on a short field trip to either a museum or an artist’s studio.

Stretching canvases, colour theory, colour mixing, painting from life as well as from photographs, and composition will be our main areas of focus. Each lesson will also begin with a short 10-minute presentation covering a period of art history, and students will be encouraged to look at the work of other painters.

During the course, you will use water-soluble oil paints, medium, brushes, charcoal, paper, canvas, and gesso. By the end of the course, you will have completed 3–4 oil paintings, as well as several drawings to take home.

The course will be taught in English by Finnish painter Aurea Tanttu (MFA, Konstfack; BFA, University of the Arts London).

The course fee is 380 euros. Each lesson lasts a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. All materials are included in the course fee.
