Bilepassio – Friday Passion

Bilepassio – Friday Passion, “Party Passion”, is a 70-minute work in which the Western Passion tradition meets a Finnish Friday night.

Traditionally, a Passion is a Christian narrative of suffering, where soloists, choir, and orchestra recount the story of a central figure’s suffering, death, and redemption.

In Bilepassio, however, the protagonist—Markku, 42—does not suffer on Golgotha, but after work. He opens a long drink, calls his friends over, and the Passion form begins to unfold this very familiar story with the same seriousness and dignity it has always brought to humanity’s deepest questions.
