This exhibition delves into the bold and multifaceted world of the beloved artist Elin Danielson-Gambogi (1861–1919). 

Her works reveal the artist’s exploration of the roles of woman, artist, and individual at the crossroads of two cultures, and how she built her identity through art at a time when women were not yet allowed that right. 

Danielson’s self-portraits, intimate depictions of everyday life, and the tensions within her gazes tell a story of self-discovery and the defense of one’s own voice – themes that continue to resonate today.
