Originating from Cinema Orion, HopeaCiné film screenings will continue this spring in Malmitalo and Vuotalo!

Designed for seniors, HopeaCiné’s programme features new Finnish films once a month. Each screening invites filmmakers or film experts as guests, who will discuss the filmmaking process and offer fresh insights to deepen the viewing experience after the film.

Orava (‘The Squirrel’) is the absurd story of Pasi, a lonely but kind-hearted designer of artificial animals who lives in a world where nature is only a memory and human wellbeing is being managed even a little too diligently. One day, Pasi (Miro Lopperi) accidentally finds the world’s last living squirrel, and also meets Emilia (Mimosa Willamo), an authority enforcing the wellbeing code. Pasi decides to defy society’s rules and help the squirrel, but something unexpected happens – the squirrel gets depressed and Pasi falls in love.
