HOS Big Band: Swingin’ Christmas with the HOS Big Band

Renowned for its traditional style, the HOS Big Band and its vocal soloists perform Christmas music in grand big band arrangements.

Throughout the evening, we are treated to some familiar Christmas classics and some rarer swing gems. Get into the Christmas spirit with HOS!

The HOS Big Band (Hämäläis-Osakunnan Soittajat) is a 20-piece ensemble comprising a group of talented amateur musicians and students from Helsinki who play and sing in the band. Our conductor is Viljami Heikkinen.

Our repertoire is based on swing classics, complemented by more modern Latin and funk rhythms. In addition to these, we also play traditional dance music, such as waltzes, tangos and humppas. The history of HOS dates back to its foundation in 1932, but the band took on its current big band form in the 1980s.
