Jarkko Toivonen: Brazilian Trip

Bossa nova guitarist Jarkko Toivonen, who will be celebrating his 40th anniversary as an artist next year, takes to the stage with his long-standing bandmates.

Performing alongside Toivonen at the concert are percussionist Mongo Aaltonen and bassist Tuure Koski. The songs featured on the setlist range from Toivonen’s first album, Sambolero (1987), all the way to his latest album, View to Serenity, released last year. All in all, Toivonen has released 13 albums.

Having performed with several legendary Brazilian artists, such as guitarist Sebastiao Tapajos, flautist and singer Danilo Caymmi, percussionist Marcelo Salazar and singer Ithamara Koorax, Toivonen is set to play not only bossa nova and samba but also bolero, choro and baiao styles at this concert.

Club night, fully licensed bar. Refreshments are served by Café Pokkari. The doors open at 17.30. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their guardian.
