Jukka Perko plays Charlie Parker brings the music of bebop legend Charlie Parker to the stage in a fresh, vibrant and sparkling new setting.

Saxophonist Jukka Perko approaches Parker’s classics with his unmistakable voice and powerful musical personality, breathing new life into one of the most influential repertoires in jazz history.

Perko is joined by the 25-piece Vallila Festival Orchestra, whose rich and colourful sound opens up new perspectives on Parker’s music.

In the dialogue between soloist and orchestra, the virtuosity of bebop meets the power, colour and energy of a large ensemble.

At the swinging heart of the concert is a rhythm section featuring three rising young stars: Jimi Nurminen on piano, Veikka Kajamies on drums and Jussi Hovilainen on bass.

Their fresh energy brings Parker’s music firmly into the present, adding drive, spontaneity and a powerful sense of swing.

The result is a concert where jazz virtuosity, improvisation and rhythmic intensity meet the full, expressive sound of a 25-piece orchestra.

The programme pays tribute to Charlie Parker’s groundbreaking legacy without turning it into a nostalgic museum piece. This is music that breathes, swings and lives vividly in the here and now.
