Kamarikesä: Hear Tomorrow

The concert series opens with brilliant patron artists: Cliodhna Scott, Ruusu-Talvikki Heikkilä, Eliel Lahesmaa, and Samuel Eriksson

The evening begins with Nocturne, originally composed by Jean Sibelius as incidental music. This will be followed by the cellists’ evergreen classic, Robert Schumann’s Adagio & Allegro. After Edvard Grieg’s dramatic and lyrical cello sonata, the first half concludes with Antonio Bazzini’s Dance of the Gnomes, demanding tremendous dexterity and lightness.

In the second half Cliodhna Scott interprets Kaija Saariaho’s solo flute work Laconisme de L’aile. One of the work’s starting points was the transition from mysterious whispering sounds to a clear, beautiful, and ‘abstract’ sound. The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’s fully romantic, warm, and mature sonata for clarinet and piano no. 2 in E-flat major.
