Leonor Ruiz Dubrovin: Sense of Some Place
Sep 17, 2026 | 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Erottajankatu 9, sisäpiha, 00130 Helsinki
Leonor Ruiz Dubrovin’s artistic exploration centers around the concept of identity. Her paintings depict through different portraits, scenes and embodiments the exaltation of the individual and the search for an authentic self. She is a double citizen by birth,Spanish and Finnish.
This background has effected on her artistic interests: in her work, she deals with her own experience and tenet of being in a position where she attempts to reconcile between different traditions, manners and ideals of being. Her work is a way to reflect and paraphrase these experiences.
The exhibition reflects on the construction of the self and the multifaceted ways in which personal identities are formed, restricted or enhanced, as well as how external perceptions and labels shape people.
”In our current era, the quest for genuine individuals has grown progressively challenging. Authentic qualities of character appear to be dwindling and endangered. In our societal landscape, the realm of social media has a way of distorting self-assurance, overshadowing our genuine nature. Consequently, many present themselves through a myriad of filters.”
