Made in Vuosaari opening ceremony – Japanese tea ceremony

Welcome to the opening ceremony of Anne Roininen’s Made in Vuosaari artwork in the Vuotalo courtyard!

Roininen and Henriikka Ahtiainen will organise a tea ceremony to celebrate the opening. The tea ceremony uses cups, dishes and teapots collected from residents, giving a new, meaningful purpose to items that have been found to be useless by their original users.

Anne Roininen is a sculptor whose works are often site-specific and process-based. Encounters with people are an important part of Roininen’s work, and the works are often politically charged.

Henriikka Ahtiainen teaches Japanese tea art in the Urasenke tradition at the Japanese tea room in Suomenlinna and is currently the secretary general of the Chado Urasenke Tankokai Finland Association.
