Pier Lorenzo Pisano: Carbon

Carbon is a poetic play by Italian playwright and filmmaker Pier Lorenzo Pisano about humanity’s first verified encounter with an unknown form of life. 

It is not a rumour, a vision or a conspiracy theory, but something witnessed by the entire world. And yet no one really knows what has happened.

At the centre of the play are two people: one has experienced something they cannot explain, while the other is trying to make sense of it. 

Their conversation moves between interrogation, confession and shared bewilderment. Gradually, something more than a strange encounter begins to emerge: memory, loss, grief, and the human need to find meaning even when there are no answers.
