Pride Month in Museum Leikki

Leikki – the Museum of Play is once again a community partner of Helsinki Pride! Throughout June, the museum celebrates Pride Month with rainbow-themed workshops, queer guided tours, the Little Ones’ Rainbow Morning and the Doll Up drag course for young people. Pride Month culminates at Museum Leikki on Wednesday 24 June with the Doll Up Drag Show featuring participants from the museum’s drag course together with experienced drag performers. Programme is included in the admission ticket unless otherwise stated.

Little Ones’ Rainbow Morning

June’s Little Ones’ Morning celebrates Pride Month with a colourful programme. Enjoy rainbow-themed art activities, storytime sessions and cuddle moments with Lohtu Bear. Come create art in every colour of the rainbow, hug Lohtu Bear and enjoy storytime hosted by a drag artist!

Doll Up Drag Show

Welcome to a unique drag evening at Leikki – the Museum of Play! This year’s Helsinki Pride theme is Freedom to Grow, and the evening will feature performances by young participants from the museum’s drag course as well as drag artists Mealworm, Måns and Regina von Totenschmürz.

Visitors can also make badges and explore Museum Leikki’s exhibitions during the event. Advance ticket sales, free admission for under 18s, otherwise standard museum admission fee.

Unicorn Trail – non-stop

Cute rainbow-coloured unicorn ponies have escaped into the museum exhibitions. Can you find the runaway ponies?

Tuesdays

14.00-16.00 Rainbow Jewellery Workshop

Let your rainbow shine! Create a colourful bracelet to complete your Pride Month look.

Wednesdays

14.00-16.00 Rainbow Flag Workshop

Let the rainbow flag fly! Create your own fabric rainbow flag using colourful textile pieces. Included in the museum admission ticket. Colourful fabrics are provided by Vallila Interior.

17.30 Queer Guided Tour (in Finnish)

Please note: on Wed 25 June the tour starts at 3.30 pm.
The guided tour explores the Play Laboratory exhibition through the diversity of gender and sexuality.

Saturdays

11.00–13.00 Rainbow Decoration Workshop

Unleash your creativity and create a wonderfully colourful rainbow decoration.

Sundays

11.00-13.00 Unicorn Workshop

Create a cute unicorn using sugar paste and cake decorations. Sweet materials are provided by Dr. Oetker.
