Ruth Schmidt: Symbol
Jun 12 – Aug 5, 2026
Kaisaniemenkatu 10, 00100 Helsinki
In Ruth Schmidt’s paintings, the dimensions of the soul and emotions find subtle expression.
“In my artistic work, I strive to go beyond merely imitating the visible world; my goal is to convey the complex emotions and thoughts hidden within the invisible aspects of life. I explore universal themes such as childlike faith, attachment, human emotions, the relationship between God and humanity, transience, hope, love, passion, pain, humor, self-criticism, and social criticism. Through my symbolic works, often touching on surrealism, I aim to make visible that which cannot be expressed in words. I draw from personal experiences, and my works serve as intimate portrayals of my inner world — each representing a fragment of my soul.”
