Tango – The Golden Years (Argentina)
Apr 16, 2026 | 7:00 pm
Kasarmikatu 46-48, 00130 Helsinki
The intense Tango Golden Years dance performance will take you to a world where tango meets jazz. The show will take the audience through the golden age of music and dance, from Buenos Aires to Harlem and from the 1920s to the 1930s. Led by world-renowned tango visionary Marcos Ayala, the show will be full of elegance, passion, the power of love and freedom.
Tango Golden Years is a musical and choreographic journey through swing, big bands, clubs, tango songs and milonga that pulsates with life. It is a world of light and shadow, where dance becomes history, memories come alive with every step and rhythm echoes as the sound of freedom.
Although the performance has its roots in tango, it also speaks to the present day. It highlights the power of art to unite cultures, break down barriers and transform pain into beauty.
Marcos Ayala Dance Company is an Argentinian dance company founded by Marcos Ayala in 2010. For years, the group has been touring the world and playing sold-out shows. At the heart of its productions is classical Argentine tango combined with contemporary theatre, music and visual art – each show bringing new creativity and unprecedented choreography to the world of tango. The group will play the Savoy Theatre in Helsinki on 16 April 2026.
Marcos Ayala is a dancer, choreographer and director who has studied folk dance, classical and modern techniques, jazz and, of course, tango from an early age. He has won several international awards, including the World Championship of Tango (Japan 2006) and the Latin ACE Awards (New York 2015).
