Tsai Yi-Chin: From Autumn to Winter, on display at the Forum Box gallery.
Handmade 35 mm and 16 mm film transform subtle plant impressions into expansive projections. The work opens a contemplative environment in which microscopic gestures unfold into immersive spaces, allowing varied sensorial encounters with time, impermanence, and nature’s quiet resilience.
Tsai Yi-Chin is a Taiwan-born, Helsinki-based visual artist and filmmaker working across analog film, experimental animation, and mixed media.
Through handcrafted processes, including under-camera animation techniques and alternative darkroom processes, she creates films and installations that meditate on impermanence, seasonal rhythms, and human experience.
She holds the Erasmus Joint Master in Animation (Re:Anima), completed across Aalto University, LUCA School of Arts, and Universidade Lusófona. Her works have been presented internationally at film festivals and exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Recent work was developed during an artist residency at Filmverkstaden in Vaasa.
