Perennial - tanssiteos
Puutarhoihin ja puistoihin toteutettu tanssiteos, joka kommunikoi puutarhan kasvien liikkeiden ja muotojen kanssa ja nyt siis Talvipuutarhassa.
PERENNIAL (Molly Engblom & Sonjis Laine)
Perennial on esitys joka syntyy suhteessa sitä ympäröivään tilaan. Se on kahden tanssisoolon duetto, jonka keskiössä on katseen käyttö ja näkyväksi tekeminen. Soolot luovat tanssi-improvisaatio -teoksen vaikuttuen kaikesta mitä esiintyjät näkevät ympärillään. Teos on näin aina paikkasidonnainen.
Teoksen kaksi sooloa on luotu alunperin Solo Perfromance Commissioning -projektissa yhdessä koreografi Deborah Hayn Kanssa. Vuodesta 2017, niitä on kehitetty ja esitetty itsenäisinä, ja nyt ne tuodaan yhteen. Hayn praktiikassa tanssijat käyttävät eri tapoja nähdä sekä erilaisia tehtäviä luodakseen keveää liikettä. Avoimissa ja julkisissa puutarha- ja puistoympäristöissä teos syntyy yhdessä kasvimaailman äänien, muotojen, liikkeiden ja tapahtumien kanssa. Perennial-teos on aina kasvava maisema tanssille. Teoksen kesto on 30-40min.
Teos ei rajoita yleisön tai tilan vierailijoiden kulkemista, vaan kutsuu äärelleen hetkeksi tai koko esityksen ajaksi.

Perennial is a performance with the surrounding rooms and places. It is a duet of two solo dances based on a practice of seeing, being seen, relating and reflecting. The solos create a system of movement improvisation in relation to everything the performer sees in their surroundings. In this way, the piece is always site specific.
The two solos were originally initiated as variations of the Solo Performance Commissioning Project by choreographer Deborah Hay. Since 2017, the solos have been developed and performed individually, and are now being brought to co-exist. In Hay's practices, the performer engages with ways of seeing and with specific tasks to create movement.
Situating itself as a part of public spaces, in this case gardens, the piece is shaped by sounds, shapes, movements and happenings in the realm of plants. The dancers dive into temporalities of the different organic movements present in the garden, becoming an ever-growing landscape. The length of the performance is approximately 30-40 minutes.
During the performance the audience can roam around, stay with it for a while or just enjoy it for a few minutes. The movement of the audience body becomes part of the dancers’ material.
