History, layers and sediments!

Annantalo will celebrate its anniversary in the form of exhibitions. The exhibitions will showcase the 35-year history of the arts centre by presenting projects from past years – at the same time, a new endeavour will launched by creating a community art work.

Sediments is both an exhibition and a participatory work of art:

The pearls of history will be presented in the front gallery – the focus will be on dressing up and cards, urban living and preparing for new sediments and the world of the back gallery.

The back gallery will be taken over by the city – from the perspective of a giant, you will be able to use a flashlight to explore the inner block of Annantalo, its flats and different residents. This block will be occupied one room, floor and house at a time. It will be built by both the students of Annantalo and exhibition guests in public workshops.

The assembly of work will begin solemnly on the 35th anniversary of Annantalo on 23 January. Come and join us on a journey through time deep into the sediments!

During the exhibition, public workshops will be held, where you can participate in the creation of the art work.
