Welcome to your happy place, Pamela

We’re glad our invitation found its way to you.

You’ve spoken about reclaiming your Finnish roots, so consider this as an official invitation:

If you’re truly ready to become a Hyytiäinen, we’d love to make the journey feel effortless and wonderfully you.

Reasons we think you would love Helsinki

A grand gesture was needed to get your attention from the other side of the world.

Now that you’re here, it’s back to the Helsinki way: here’s a few practical reasons why this city might feel surprisingly right for you.

1. Let’s meet in the middle

We know your roots are from Saarijärvi, a place a lot smaller than Finland’s capital, and we love that. Helsinki is the perfect sweet spot: think of it as the in-between of Hollywood energy and Saarijärvi peace.

2. More than one Hyytiäinen

On Vancouver Island, being the only Hyytiäinen might get lonely. Here you have Janne Hyytiäinen, and around 1 700 Hyytiäinens in Finland, ready to say hello and welcome you into the family.

3. You’re in your quietly powerful era, and so are we.

In Helsinki, we don’t make noise for the sake of noise. Just calm confidence, sharp taste, and a life that feels real.

4. Vispipuuro is waiting

We have heard you love vispipuuro, and you will feel right at home here. Helsinki has plenty of it, and we promise to point you to the very best bowls in town.

4. We respect reinvention

We love a good comeback as much as you do, but a grounded one even more. Helsinki gets that things evolve and this city is perfect for a fresh chapter that’s calm, confident, and truly yours.

5. Privacy is a vibe

The world can be a lot, especially when you are well-known. We’re friendly, but we don’t crowd you. Helsinki is excellent at giving you space and still making you feel welcome.

6. Helsinki, naturally

Sea air, parks more like city forests, and some 30,000 islands invite you to reset your brain. Here, nature is always within your reach and slow living is basically our national hobby.

7. Wellness without the performance

We do not do wellness as a trend but as a way of staying human. Sauna, sea swims, long walks, quiet cafés, and early nights are all completely normal here.

Becoming a Hyytiäinen

Pamela, making the name Hyytiäinen official, is less dramatic than it sounds. There are a few simple ways to do it, and we’ll point you to the right one whenever you’re ready.

Option 1: Marriage

If marriage is part of your plan, taking a new surname is often handled as part of that same official process. In other words: not very romantic on paper, but pleasantly straightforward in practice.

Option 2: Adoption

If you ever wanted to become part of the Hyytiäinen family in the most official way, adoption can be one route. Not the fastest option, but a very real one.

Option 3: Citizenship

If you ever want to make your Finnish roots official and start a more permanent chapter here, citizenship is the way to go. But you can always start with a visit first.

Meet your long lost cousin, Janne Hyytiäinen.

According to our very unofficial calculations, Finnish actor Janne Hyytiäinen is currently the most famous Hyytiäinen in the world. Which is exactly why we asked him to deliver our invitation to you –  from Hyytiäinen to Hyytiäinen, and from actor to actor. Luckily for you, Janne is fully prepared to make room at the top.

Together with the city, he is here to say: welcome to the Hyytiäinen family!
